Tour details
After being custom fitted to your bike, the professional tour guide will go over a quick safety and gear lesson.

The tour begins in Fisherman's Wharf, one of San Francisco's oldest and most famous neighborhoods. Riders will follow the scenic San Francisco waterfront, on the Bay Trail bike path, through Aquatic Park. At the beach’s end, we’ll turn out on to the Historic Municipal Pier, where the view of Alcatraz is spectacular (that is, if the bay has none of its infamous fog!) Riders then journey through Fort Mason with more expansive bay views and across the old Fort down into the Marina. The Marina bike path is sandwiched between a series of lovely houseboats on your right and exclusive waterfront homes on your left. This path winds through the harbor and past the Wave Organ, where one can hear the caustic sounds made by the bay itself. At the Marina's end is the Palace of Fine Arts, built in 1915 for the Panama Pacific Exposition, to celebrate the completion of the Panama Canal. It was preserved by the SF Art Association rather than demolished, thankfully, and still stands today as a beacon of old architecture in our city.

The path continues through Crissy Field, where the recent reconstruction has afforded San Francisco a real park like setting to ride bikes, run the dogs, fly kites, or just picnic and relax! The end of Crissy Field is Fort Point. Located directly under the Golden Gate Bridge, it was built to protect the San Francisco harbor from Confederate & foreign attack during and after the U.S. Civil War.

From Fort Point the road loops up to the Golden Gate Bridge, where riders cross on wide, two-way path. From there, the path goes from the West side down bike only road into Old Fort Baker: "the Gateway in to the Marin Headlands".

The final stop is Marin's southernmost city, Sausalito, where riders can shop, dine or just relax. From Sausalito, riders can ferry back to the San Francisco waterfront with the included ferry ticket and enjoy a bit of a bay cruise. Riders may also keep their bikes for the full day at no extra charge: Some may wish to cycle around Sausalito, while others may cycle to the next town - Tiburon- and ferry back from there. Just return the bike by the end of the day for the Bike the Bay Experience!

Note:  the Sausalito Ferry does not operate on Thanksgiving and Christmas day.
